FAQ

Backflow testing questions in Camarillo

Who requires backflow testing in Camarillo?

Your water supplier: the City of Camarillo, California American Water or Camrosa Water District, depending on the address. The City sends its notice about one month before the test is due.

How often do backflow assemblies need to be tested?

At least once a year, and again after installation or repair, by a certified Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester, under the State Water Board Cross-Connection Control Policy Handbook (section 3.3.3). Your water supplier mails the notice with the due date.

What happens if my assembly fails?

A failed assembly must be repaired or replaced and retested, generally within 30 days of the failure under the handbook (section 3.3.3), unless your supplier allows more time. We report the failure, coordinate the repair with a licensed contractor and retest the assembly.

How much does a backflow test cost?

It depends on the type and size of each assembly, how many you have, access, and any filing fee your supplier charges. Send us your notice and we will quote before scheduling.

How are backflow test results filed in Camarillo?

For City of Camarillo customers, testers submit results through SwiftComply only; the City does not accept paper reports. Cal Am and Camrosa customers file the way their supplier requires.
